Travis Snider of the Pirates originally thought the pain in his left foot came as a result of a simple ligament strain. However, Snider found out that he was more severely injured than expected. In fact, his injury even caused his 2013 batting average to be as low as .215.
Upon the season’s end Snider underwent surgery to have bone spurs and the sesamoid bones in the ball of his foot removed in order to heal his foot. “After Christmas I’ll be eight weeks (post-surgery) and hopefully get clearance to start progressing with some physical activity,” Snider stated in regards to his recovery.
